About Coach Conrad Allison

My love for chess began at the age of six, when my dad taught me how to play. At ten, I started teaching chess to my classmates using the Chessmaster 9000 programme.

Over the years, my passion for the game grew, and I began competing in various tournaments. In 2013 I was Kent Junior Chess Association Champion. I became the captain of my secondary school and my college chess teams. At the same time, I dedicated more and more time to work with and teach young people chess.

In September 2016, I launched Conrad Chess, finding my true calling in teaching and organizing chess events. My goal is to make chess accessible and enjoyable for everyone, including neurodivergent children and adults, as well as those with special educational needs.

Conrad Community Chess

About Conrad Chess

Conrad Chess is dedicated to bringing people together through chess. Based in South East London, we offer a range of chess events, clubs and lessons, from local tournaments to school educational programs.
Our approach includes a combination of free and subsidised events to ensure everyone has the opportunity to participate. We pride ourselves on paying our coaches fairly. Our upcoming relaunch extravaganza at the end of June ’24 marks a new chapter for Conrad Chess. We have organised for multiple Grandmasters to give Simultaneous Exhibitions in parallel, each taking on at least 20 players at the same time. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced player, a child or an adult, we welcome you to join us and discover the thrilling joy of chess.

Mission

Our mission is to give access to chess education to everyone, and ensuring excellence and fun to all, irrespective of background or skill level.

We will target communities not integrated into tradional chess organisation. Conrad Chess will enable incusive spaces for all groups; including gender, ethnic background, religion, disability.

Vision

We’re all about bringing together different communities together through the wonderful game, creating connections, personal growth and huge amounts of fun along the way.

We also intend to support participants to acquire skills through chess that add value to their education in other areas such as coding, maths, music, philosophy, language etc.
